2 EASY Mountain Biking Trails in Cortez, Colorado

The Four Corners area is known for incredible mountain biking trails. However, many of the most popular trails are too extreme for the beginning mountain biker. Check out these trails if you are looking for something a little easier - without compromising the thrills of hoo-doos and downhill flow that a more experienced rider enjoys!
A mountain bike lays on it's side in Cortez, Colorado.

Hippie House Loop at Phil's World

6.2 mile single track loop. There are a couple climbs, and optional jumps. Most spots with rock scrambles and jumps have alternate routes around the obstacle, this is a great trail for beginners.

Start by taking Trust Loop Trail out of the parking lost. Eventually you will come to a split in the trail (it's actually hard to see, sometimes I bike right past it!) that will inform you that you have made it onto the Hippie House Loop.

I LOVE this trail. It has been my go-to ride for several years. It's a pretty easy trail, but as an intermediate rider I feel like I can get some speed and test myself in place where I used to struggle. A great place to practice or take a first-time mountain biker!

Revolution at Carpenter Geer Natural Area

2.7 single track loop trail that circles around Carpenter-Geer Natural Area. Follow the BLUE trail blazes. If you want to extend your ride, take the Come Together trail marked by YELLOW blazes at the top of the mesa.

This is my new go-to trail. It takes me about 45 minutes to ride if I head straight outside my door. I also love that every trail is named after songs from The Beatles. I still have to walk some of the downhill areas on the return to the trailhead. They are just a little too steep, a little too gravel-y, and have a little too many turns for me just yet!

There are two trail heads, I prefer the start off Lebanon Road.
